The need to have a separate course exclusively in the Post Graduate Medical Education level was keenly felt for over a period of years and was under active considerations of the Shanmuga Medical Research Foundation Trust since 1999.

The Effective delivery of health care service will depend largely on the nature of education and training. Therefore the entire basis and approach of education is received in terms of National needs and Priorities and the curricular and training program is restricted to produce personnel of various grades of skills, and competence, who are professionally equipped and motivated to effectively deal with the situation.

Offering Master course in Nursing will prepare high quality Nurse to face the Emerging disease and keep pace with technological advances with updated knowledge to meet the individual and community needs.

1. M.Sc Medical Surgical Nursing – 5 seats
2. M.Sc Mental Health Nursing – 5 seats
3. M.Sc Maternity Nursing – 5 seats
4. M.Sc Paediatric Nursing – 4 seats
5. M.Sc Community Nursing – 4 seats

Duration: 2 Years

Eligibility: The candidate should have

1. Passed the qualification of B.Sc Nursing degree of this University or any other University accepted as equivalent there to.
2. Should have registered with the State Registration Council of Nursing and Mid-Wifery.
3. Should have one year of experience after registration in teaching hospitals or in a college (or) in school of Nursing (or) in Community Health Programme.
4. In case of male candidates they should have passed any other course recommended by the Indian Nursing Council in place of Midwifery.

Object of the course: The object of this course is to train students and produce Competent Nurses for rendering Sincere and Honest service to Upgrade the Quality of Health and Medical Services.

Duration of the course: 4 Years

Total number of seats: 60

Eligibility: A pass in +2 Higher Secondary Examination of Tamilnadu with Science subjects, viz, Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Botany and Zoology or equivalent examination acceptable to the Tamilnadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University is a Must.

Age: Must have completed 17 years of age.

Uniform: As Prescribed by the Management.

Can be absorbed by the line-up Hospitals of Shanmuga or can get a placement in Government Hospitals or can stand as a college Tutor (or) can go Abroad (or) Higher Education

Eligibility: +2 Passed with Science Subject (H.Sc./CBSE/PUC/DCP)

Eligibility: Both Men and Women. A pass in +2 Higher Secondary Examination of Tamilnadu with any subjects, (or) equivalent examination acceptable to the Director of Education, Chennai.

Age: Must have completed 17 years of age.

Uniform: As Prescribed by the Management.
